Inventory - Species:
Eastern Pine
Pinus Strobus

DESCRIPTION – Eastern White Pine is found in North and Central America extending from eastern Canada all the way to the mountains of Guatemala.  The sapwood is usually wide and is a white, creamy color.  The heartwood is a light brown which can also have reddish brown streaks through it.

PROPERTIES – It is one of the softer woods and has poor durability.  However, this makes it an easy wood to work with both hand and machine tools.   It also dries easily and quickly.  Care should be taken with the wood when drying so it doesn’t get blue stained.  It does not turn very well so proper techniques and extremely sharp tools are necessary when turning.

USES –Eastern White Pine has a wide variety of uses including furniture, millwork, doors, paneling, plywood and general construction.
